Principal's Message

Welcome to John Muir Elementary, home of the Trailblazers!
Dear John Muir Elementary School Families,
As the summer days begin to wane, it is with immense excitement and anticipation that I extend a warm welcome to all our returning students and families, and a very special greeting to those joining our John Muir community for the first time! I hope this message finds you well-rested and rejuvenated from a wonderful summer break.
The start of a new school year is always a time of fresh beginnings, renewed energy, and countless opportunities for growth and discovery. Our dedicated team of educators and staff has been working diligently to prepare our classrooms and campus, ensuring a vibrant, safe, and inspiring learning environment for every child. We are truly looking forward to another year filled with academic excellence, creative exploration, and meaningful connections.
At John Muir, our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing environment of mutual respect while inspiring children to achieve their academic potential as lifelong learners through challenging curriculum, dedicated staff and family support. Every child will achieve academic and social success with purpose and individual determination.
This year, we will continue to prioritize enhancing our literacy programs, integrating more hands-on STEM activities, strengthening our social-emotional learning initiatives, and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). In addition, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a fundamental component taught in all grade levels TK - 6th, as it’s never too early to start planning for the future as college and/or career-ready individuals. We believe that every student possesses unique talents and unlimited potential, and we are committed to providing the support and resources they need to thrive.
We strongly believe that a strong partnership between home and school is crucial for a child's success. Your active involvement in your child's education makes a significant difference, and we encourage you to be a part of our school community. Please look out for information regarding our School Site Council (SSC), English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC), Parent Teacher Club (PRC), volunteer opportunities, school events, communication platforms like ParentSquare and right here on our new Muir website. Open communication is key, and my door, as well as the doors of our teachers and staff, are always open to discuss any questions, concerns, or ideas you may have.
We are so excited to embark on this new academic journey with you and your children. Together, we will create a year filled with remarkable achievements, lasting memories, and a deep love for learning.
Wishing you and your family a successful and rewarding school year!
Warm regards,
Lucrecia Sicairos
